Holmen is a family friendly Mid-Western community that is nestled in the scenic upper Mississippi River Basin approximately 5 miles north of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Beautiful bluffs guard the Village's east side while sweeping prairies open the boundaries to the west. The Village was incorporated on May 7, 1946. It has grown substantially over the past decade from a small rural farming community in the 1960 and 1970 era to a rapidly expanding urban center of 8,138 residents. The Village operates under a Board-President form of Government and provides the following services: Police Department, Joint Fire Department, Highway and Streets, Sanitation, Water, Recreation and Development. The Village utilities serve over 3,600 customers, while the Street Department maintains over 37 miles of streets. NOTICE OF CHANGE IN CODE OF ORDINANCES VILLAGE OF HOLMEN Please take notice that the Village Board of the Village of Holmen will hold a public hearing to consider Ordinance 2.09, ordinance to amend the code of the Village of Holmen, Chapter 25 thereof entitled Brush, Grass and Weeds, to amend Sections 25-3 Nuisances prohibited and 25-5 Abatement of nuisance at 7:00 PM on January 14, 2010 at the Holmen Village Hall. All interested parties are invited to attend. You are further notified that a copy of said proposed ordinance will be on file and open for public inspection in the office of the Village Clerk at the Village Hall for a period of two weeks prior to the public hearing, commencing Friday, January 1, 2010.
