Village of Holmen

Special Board Meeting

February 27, 2004

President Chapman called the special meeting of the Holmen Village Board to order at 6:30 PM on February 27, 2004 at the Village Hall.  All members were present except Seitz, who was excused.

Finance and Personnel Committee Chairman Forde informed the Board that the committee had interviewed Catherine Schmit, Wayde Pollock, Dan Ertz and Keith Back for the position of Village Administrator/Clerk.  After the final interview on February 24, 2004 the committee discussed the candidates at length and decided to offer the position to Catherine Schmit.  Motion by Forde, seconded by Anderson to hire Catherine Schmit at a salary of $60,000, with a start date of April 1, 2004, 3 weeks of vacation, $1,000 of moving expenses and all other Village benefits.  Carried unanimously.

Trustee Olson reported that Chief McHugh, Karla Pleau, Deputy Clerk Karen Spreuer and himself had conducted the interviews for the part-time Police secretary position.  The interview committee decided to offer the position to Maria Boado.  Motion by Olson, seconded by Hauser to hire Maria Boado for the part-time Police secretary position at a salary of $8.50 per hour, with a start date of March 1, 2004 and all applicable part-time Village benefits.  Carried unanimously.

President Chapman informed the Board that the Municipal building had an ice and icicle problem this winter and that he had contacted E & B Insulation to check the building.  They found the attic dry and felt the insulation was adequate.  They felt that heat was probably building up in the upper portion of the roof area.  Their suggestion was to install ventilation caps or turbines on the roof near the peak.  President Chapman will contact

E & B Insulation to prepare a proposal with both options.  Finance and Personnel will review the options and make a recommendation to the Board.

Motion by Proctor, seconded by Hauser to adjourn at 6:50 PM.  Carried unanimously.
