ASA Legal Bats & Balls     ASA Softball Homepage   Wisconsin ASA Softball

 (Holmen uses ASA bat rules, no exceptions)

  • LEAGUE BEGINS: Tuesday, September 11 and runs through October 30 (8 weeks).

  • 2 DIVISIONS:

    • 1) Competitive

    • 2) Recreational Divisions offered, limited to first 16 teams registered.

  • GAME TIMES: 6:00pm, 7:00pm, 8:00pm, and 9:00pm (under new lights).

  • ENTRY FEE: $110 PER TEAM (No Additional Player Fees)

  • TEAMS PROVIDE BALLS. Home team provides 2 game balls (11" & 12") per game, visiting team provides 2 backup balls (11" & 12") per game. Ball specifications: Optic Yellow, ASA approved, .44 COR, 375 lbs compression, 11" for women and 12" for men.

  • REGISTRATION: Team Registration Deadline is Thursday, August 30, 2007. To register submit your entry fee and complete team information (team name, manager name, address, phone, email, and ability level) to Holmen Park & Recreation, PO Box 158, 421 S. Main St., Holmen, WI 54636.

  • RULES: Limited arc 6’ to 12’, ASA bat rules, 3 Home Run Limit, men hit 12" ball, women hit 11" ball (see official rules for more details).

    • BATTING ORDER: You CAN NEVER have TWO MEN bat in consecutive order in the line-up (cannot have more men playing than women).

    • POSITIONING: There are no limits to the areas where players may position themselves on the field in fair territory. However, with Ten Players: 5 females and 5 males: 2 males and 2 females in both the infield and outfield, and 1 male and 1 female as pitcher and catcher. Nine players: Must have 5 females, and 4 males and the pitcher/catcher remains same as above. Eight players: Must have 4 females, 4 males, and the pitcher/catcher remains same as above. (The legal infield/outfield combination with 8 players is 2 males-1 female or 2 females-1 male.) Exception: With Ten, Nine, or Eight players at any time, you must have at least 3 males with 1 playing outfield, 1 playing infield, and 1 playing either pitcher or catcher.

    • WALK RULE: Any walk to a male batter will result in a two base award. The next batter (a female) will bat. EXCEPTION: With two outs, the female batter has the option to walk or bat.

    • LEGAL BATS: ASA Legal Bats & Balls  (Holmen uses ASA bat rules, no exceptions)

      • ASA Bat Testing & Certification Program:
        • The official bat in ASA Championship Play must meet all of the requirements of Rule 3, Section 1 and: must bear either the ASA approved 2000 certification mark or the ASA 2004 certification mark as shown below, and must not be listed on an ASA non approved list, or must be included on a list of approved bat models published by the ASA National Office; or must, in the sole opinion and discretion of the umpire, have been manufactured prior to 2000 and if tested, would comply with the ASA bat performance standards then in effect.
        • Beginning January 1, 2004, all bats in ASA Championship Play must pass the ASA 2004 bat standard. All bats having the 2004 certification mark will be allowed in ASA Championship Play.
        • Bats that have the 2000 certification mark will not be allowed in ASA Championship Play unless they are listed on an approved bat list on the ASA website.
        • For convenience, the ASA website has a listing of bats that do not pass the ASA 2004 bat standard.
