Brush and Yard Waste

Yard waste is not picked up as part of Holmen’s refuse collection service, but the Village does provide a site where yard waste can be dropped off for recycling into compost. Our Compost Site  is located on Empire Street about 2 blocks west of Holmen Drive , and it is open mid-April to mid-November (exact dates determined by weather.

Compost Site hours are as follows:

Mondays 2pm – 6pm       Wednesdays 2pm – 6pm          Saturdays 8am – 4pm

Village residents are allowed to take grass, weeds, leaves, sod, wood chips, garden waste and soil to the compost site, and anyone is welcome to take compost soil from the site. No brush, branches, limbs or twigs are accepted at the compost site, and no trash of any kind is accepted.

Due to abuse: the key for the compost site gate is no longer given out for access during off-hours.
