POOL2017 Village of Holmen

Pool Opens: June 8, 2024  |  Closes: August 18, 2024

12,000 square-foot, zero-depth pool. Six competitive lap lanes. 200’ water slide, drop slide, kiddie slide, and water play features. Concessions and vending machine. Coin operated lockers for your convenience. Pirate Ship non-water playground. Limited chairs and loungers provided.

No toys, flotation aids, or carry-ins allowed

Children ages 7 and under must be supervised by an adult at all times, and will not be allowed in the facility unless accompanied by an adult.

Pool cancellations are not listed on the Recreation Cancellation Hotline (608-526-6312), cancellations are made at the pool by pool staff.

Open Swim Hours

Monday-Friday: 12:00 pm – 5:50 pm (beginning June 10, 2024)
Saturdays: 12:00 pm – 7:00 pm (beginning June 8th, except 8/17/2024 – 1 pm to 5 pm due to KornFest Parade)
Sundays: 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Family Night Open Swim 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
Thursday, July 4th: 12 pm – 4 pm, (no lessons, aerobics, lap swim, log rolling, or swim team)

Family Night

Sundays from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
During this time, the pool will allow floats and water toys subject to safety standards. Children will not be allowed in or to stay without a parent present.

Adult Lap Swim & Water Aerobics
Water Aerobics & Adult Lap Swim start on June 10, 2024 and will end on Thursday, August 15, 2024. The slides are closed during these scheduled times. Fee: $3.00 (Residents & Non-Residents). No Charge if you show your pool membership card

Adult Swim (two lanes available):
Weeknights (no Fridays): 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Rules & Policies

  • No floatation devices, toys, or carry-ins are allowed.
  • Children ages 7 and under must be supervised by an adult at all times, and will not be allowed in the facility unless accompanied by an adult.
  • For Open Swim – If a person leaves the pool building or the pool closes due to a problem or inclement weather, those wishing to return if the weather or conditions permit may use the wristband they obtained for re-entry. If they have lost this prior to leaving the pool, they may get a hand-stamp.
  • Rain checks will be issued if the pool closes within the first two hours of open swimming for any reason. Otherwise there are NO daily admission refunds.
  • The pool will close if there is heavy rainfall, danger of an electrical storm or unusually cold outside. Decisions for lessons will be made every half hour. Contact the pool at 608-526-6092 for further information.
  • Slides will close due to lack of staff or unruly behavior by participants.
  • If a child has more than one time-out in a day, they will be removed from the pool with a phone call to the parents.
  • The pool will close early due to the weather and/or lack of participants.
  • No cell phones or cameras can be used in the changing rooms or restrooms.

The Village of Holmen declares the following policy for residency and memberships requirements for the Holmen Area Aquatic Center:

Pool Membership

  • Family memberships are allowed for the following citizens:
    • Residents and Non-Residents at a cost of $135 ($120 if purchased by May 19, 2023) for families and $55 ($50 if purchased by May 19, 2023) for individuals. Family is defined as parents (2 adults maximum) or legal guardians (2 adults maximum) and their children under 18, foster children under 18, stepchildren under 18.
    • Seniors ages 65 and older can enter the pool free with a Senior Membership Card or by providing proof of age. Senior Pool Membership cards (individual memberships only) can be obtained at the Holmen Village Hall. Proof of age is required. These cards need to be renewed yearly.
  • Family memberships are not allowed for the following:
    • Children 18 years of age and older may not be included on their parents or guardians family membership; they must obtain their own membership once they turn 18.
    • Multiple families living together, extended relatives living together, or grandparents living with their children over age 18. Each set (2 adults maximum) of parents must purchase their own membership for themselves and their children less than 18 years of age.
    • Baby sitters or day care employees cannot be included on a family membership. A separate membership would have to be purchased based on their official residence. Official proof of address must be provided (school record, driver’s license, etc.).
    • Grandchildren cannot be included on a membership, unless the grandparents are the legal guardians and can provide proof upon request.

Pool Residency (Swim Lessons, Swim Team)

  • A person is considered a resident if one of the following occurs:
    • The citizen has resided in the Village of Holmen for at least 10 days (official proof must be provided).
    • The person must live within the Village of Holmen limits, not Holmen school district. PO Box addresses will not be accepted. Many Town of Holland and Town of Onalaska addresses have a Holmen postal address, but are not in the Village of Holmen and their taxes do not support the Village of Holmen.
  • A person is not considered a resident if any of the following occur:
    • A Village of Holmen business owner that lives outside of the Village of Holmen limits.
    • A person that resides outside of the Village of Holmen limits. Examples: Town of Holland, Town of Onalaska, City of Onalaska, etc.
    • Baby sitters or day care employees and participants that live outside the corporate limits of the Village of Holmen.
    • A Holmen PO Box address will be considered as a Non-Resident address.
    • Cannot provide proof of residency when entering the pool or when registering for programs.
  • All persons using pool do so at own risk – we are not responsible for accidents or injuries.
  • DO NOT Enter the pool is you have an infectious or communicable disease or open cut.
  • Children ages 7 and under must be at hand of a parent or responsible adult guardian at ALL times.
  • Shower before entering the pool and after use of toilet facilities.
  • NO glass, drinks, food, animals, gum, Tobacco, intoxicants or illegal substances in pool area.
  • Patrons must wear proper swimming attire.
  • no Spitting, spouting water, blowing the nose, or discharging bodily wastes in the pool.
  • Diaper changing on the pool deck is prohibited.
  • Non-toilet trained children are required to wear swim diapers.
  • NO running, pushing, rough play, or unnecessary noise.
  • NO toys, floats, water wings, etc. allowed in pool, unless at a specified time.
  • NO *goggles or face masks on diving board or slides. * prescription goggles may be used with prior manager approval and a doctor’s note.
  • NO hanging on ladders. ropes, slides, diving board or sea horse.
  • Swimmers are not allowed under diving board or drop slide.
  • NO diving or jumping – inwards, backwards, flips, etc.
  • swimmers must pass swimming test (swim 2 widths of the pool) to go off diving board or drop slide.
  • NO visiting with guards or handling of guard equipment.
  • Patrons shall obey the lifeguards at all times.  Guards have the authority to make decisions based on the situation to ensure safety and some rules may not be posted.
  • Manager reserves right to deny use of pool to anyone at any time.
  • Use pool at own risk when lifeguard is not on duty.
  • Pirate Ship Slide: 1 person at a time, feet first, height requirement: shorter than 42 inches, and no climbing on the side of the slide.
  • All swimmers must pass a swimming test before using the diving board.  Be prepared to retake the test if asked by a lifeguard.
  • Adults are not required to take the swimming test, but are asked to be very aware of their own swimming skills. Youth ages 14 and older do not have to take the test.
  • NO recreational swimming in or around the diving area.
  • Only 1 person is allowed on the diving board at a time.
  • Only 1 bounce is allowed while on the board.
  • Divers must dive straight off the front of the board.
  • Absolutely NO cartwheels, handstands, gainers or twisting front to back while on the board.
  • Divers must wait until the person in front of them is to the ladder on the side of the pool before diving.
  • No *goggles or face masks on diving board. *Prescription goggles may be used with prior manager approval and a doctor’s note.
  • All divers must swim to the appropriate side of the pool to exit.  NO one is allowed to swim back underneath the diving board to exit.
  • Gainers are jumping off face forward and doing back flips or facing backward and doing forward flips.  No gainer allowed off the board.
  • If a swimmer is doing something that makes the guard feel uncomfortable and does not look safe, the guard may ask him/her to stop.  These rules are not inclusive.
  • No sitting on diving board.
  • No jumping towards the edge to get friends wet.  Must jump off straight.
  • Must pass the same swimming test for the drop slide as for the diving board.
  • Only 1 person at a time is allowed on the ladder and deck.
  • The next rider may go only when the person in front of them is exiting the pool. The landing area must be completely clear.
  • No *goggles or face masks on slides. *Prescription goggles may be used with prior manager approval and a doctor’s note.
  • All riders must go feet first, either sitting or laying down on their back.
  • Riders may not kneel, stop, or turn in the slide.
  • Only one rider in the slide at a time.  Slide closest to guard goes first.  NO chain riding.  When swimmer reached ladder then next person may go down.
  • Only slide on bottom or back.
  • Only one slide at a time, no racing between the two slides.
  • One person allowed on slide at a time
    Must be 42″ tall to go down slide.
  • No twisting, standing, or stopping in slide
  • No Flotation Devices.
  • No *goggles or face masks on slides. *Prescription goggles may be used with prior manager approval and a doctor’s note.
  • No horseplay, running on stairs, landings or waterslides.
  • No buckles rivets or sharp objects on swimsuits
  • Pregnant women, riders with heart conditions, neck or back problems should not ride.
  • Each rider should have physical and cognitive abilities to remain in the following position: Riders should sit feet first; arms crossed over chest or in supine position-should lay feet first, face up, with legs crossed at ankles and arms crossed over chest.
  • Rider will encounter strong acceleration and deceleration throughout the ride.
  • Rider cannot push off from the jets.  Rider must start with arms crossed.
  • Because of the strong current at the bottom of slide the guard should assist when needed.  The lifeguard on top slide will stand while guarding at top of slide. The signals for top of slide are Thumbs up – go ahead, cross arms over head – stop sending them.
  • Children who turn themselves in slide and end up head first will be reprimanded.  Diving into the plunge pool from waterslide could cause neck/back injury and they could be paralyzed.
