Cake Decorating Classes

Laura Liudahl from Laura’s Baking Delights will be offering several cake decorating classes through the Holmen Park & Recreation Department this Fall/Winter.  Please check out the variety of classes below.  All classes will meet at Halfway Creek Park West Shelter (400 Walnut Dr.).  Age & skill levels are merely suggestions. If you feel your child is mature enough for a class, go ahead and sign them up.  Class Size: Min – 4, Max – 12.

Baking Buddies is an exciting opportunity for both adults and children to explore the art of decorating while fostering a collaborative environment. Our program caters to individuals aged 11 and above, who can independently work on their own projects. For children aged 10 and under, we require the presence of an accompanying adult. In such cases, both the child and adult will work together on a shared project, and only one registration fee will be charged.

These beginner-level classes aim to provide participants with a basic understanding of dessert decorating, allowing them to build a strong foundation in this skill.

Class 1: We dive into the world of cookies. Discover the secrets of transforming plain cookies into edible masterpieces using various icing mediums and techniques.

Class 2: We explore the whimsical world of cake pops. Learn how to apply basic decorating skills to craft eye-catching and imaginative cake pops.

Class 3: All about cupcakes. Delve into the world of buttercream and piping tips to create stunning cupcake designs that will leave everyone in awe.

Class 4: We delve into the basics of cake decoration. Put your newfound piping skills to the test as you create a breathtaking cake.

*Don’t worry about supplies; everything you need will be provided for you to unleash your inner baking artist.*

For a mere $50, you’ll receive a 2-layer 8″ cake, along with all the necessary frosting and a convenient box to carry your creation home. The price also includes the opportunity for two students to learn together while working on a single cake. Get ready to explore various techniques such as piping, flowing, and creating stunning wet on wet designs that can be used for any occasion. This class is perfect for individuals aged 16 and above who are eager to enhance their cookie decorating skills. As an added bonus, each participant will be able to take home 6 – 8 beautifully decorated cookies, plus I will gladly share my coveted recipes for scrumptious sugar cookies and delectable royal icing, allowing you to recreate these mouthwatering treats in the comfort of your own kitchen. Don’t forget to bring a cookie sheet to ensure your creations make it home safely.
